e.g. The Martinelli family’s wine journey began in the Russian River Valley more than 130 years ago when Italian winemaker Giuseppe Martinelli arrived with a dream of planting vineyards. His vines flourished, and the Martinelli family is firmly ensconced in Sonoma County, providing grapes to some of the most revered wineries. In fact, the family sells more grapes than they make into their own wine, making this lot a rare discovery. This Russian River Pinot Noir is the Martinelli family’s favorite barrel blend of two vineyards: Moonshine Ranch and Reserve Vineyard. The Moonshine Vineyard rows were planted more than 20 years ago with wide enough spacing between them that the family was able to add cuttings from the original Reserve Vineyard in between each row in order to preserve its heritage. This barrel blend marries the characteristics of these two vineyards—now growing side by side—for the first time ever.
